About My Art
I always drew and painted subjects that I related to. I once told a family member that the images in my art is my personality. They are things that I do, have done, or desire to do. Places I have been or desire to be. Or, sometimes it was as simple as seeing a scene or an image that would inspire me.

I am also a musician, so you do see subjects of music in my art. I loved Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. My later works are all heavily based on Puerto Rico and Puerto Rican culture. Even though I grew up in the Bronx and Mamaroneck, and only visited Puerto Rico, my family held onto the traditions brought over from Puerto Rico. The language, the food, a game of dominos, and of course, the music and the dancing.

But there was the American side of me as well. I loved camping as a boy, and later on as an adult with my own children. I listen to Classic Rock, Jazz, even Opera. I enjoy shooting Pool, or a game of Chess. And who can resist a nice juicy cheeseburger with a side of fries? Or a big juicy steak with a baked potato? And the beach... well, that is definitely my happy place.

Although it might not appear in my art... yet... I do have admiration for a few artists and their styles. John Singer Sargent, Rembrant, Degas, Vemeer to name a few. And a great American artist that had the ability to tell a story with just one image, Norman Rockwell.

I have decided not to work too hard to try and mimic these artists, but to stay true to who I am and to develop, evolve and nuture my own style.
